FAQs

How often should I get a facial?

1

I typically recommend scheduling a facial every 4–6 weeks, which aligns with your skin's natural renewal cycle. If we're targeting specific concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, or uneven texture, I may recommend more frequent treatments at first to help you achieve your goals. During your appointment, I'll create a treatment plan that's customized specifically for your skin.

Which facial is right for my skin?

2

Every facial I perform is personalized to your skin's unique needs. Before we begin, I'll evaluate your skin, discuss your concerns, and ask about your current skincare routine and lifestyle. Whether your goal is hydration, acne management, brightening, calming sensitive skin, or healthy aging, I'll recommend the treatment that will give you the best results.

Is there any downtime after a facial?

3

Most facials have little to no downtime. Depending on the treatment, you may experience mild redness or sensitivity for a few hours, especially if extractions or exfoliation are performed. I recommend avoiding heavy makeup, strenuous exercise, hot showers, saunas, and prolonged sun exposure for the rest of the day so your skin has time to recover and fully absorb the benefits of your treatment. The only facial treatment I offer that has specific downtime requirements is the Basic/Deluxe Lactic Peel. I recommend avoiding direct sun exposure, excessive heat, strenuous exercise, swimming, and exfoliating products for at least 48 hours after your peel. You'll also want to wear SPF daily and keep your skin well moisturized while it heals. I'll provide you with personalized aftercare instructions to ensure your skin heals properly and you get the most out of your treatment.

What should I do before and after my facial?

4

Before your facial:

  • Avoid retinol, prescription retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and other exfoliating products for 7 days before your appointment.

  • Avoid waxing, threading, or other hair removal treatments on the treatment area for at least 48-72 hours beforehand.

  • Stay hydrated and arrive with clean skin if possible.

  • Let me know about any allergies, medications, recent cosmetic treatments, or changes in your health in your intake form so I can safely customize your facial.

After your facial:

  • Keep your skin hydrated by using a gentle moisturizer and drinking plenty of water.

  • Wear SPF every day, especially after exfoliating treatments, as your skin will be more sensitive to the sun.

  • Avoid retinol, exfoliants, acids, and other active ingredients for 48-72 hours unless I recommend otherwise.

  • Skip heavy makeup, intense workouts, swimming pools, hot tubs, steam rooms, and excessive heat for 48 hours.

  • Follow the personalized home care recommendations I provide to help maintain your results between appointments.
